Provence is well known for its historic architecture: ancient Roman ruins, medieval hilltop towns, picturesque rural villages and urban heritage sites. These buildings are valued in proportion to their rarity and distance in time from the present.

The GR 2013 offers an alternate, parallel path into the contemporary architecture of the everyday - a closer look at the utilitarian buildings that often recede into the background of our focus, seemingly too familiar or mundane to warrant more than practical attention.
